Hello and welcome to our journey towards a just and equitable Brockton, MA. Now we know as far as first sentences goes this one may sound a bit daunting. You must be thinking, “all I did was click on a link, how did I get stuck with creating a just and equitable Brockton?” Hey we wouldn’t even blame you for thinking we are overly ambitious and a bit crazy. However, before you hit the back button let us explain. The objective of this site is to simply educate readers like yourself on the topic of food insecurity. Currently, food insecurity is a major crisis in the City of Brockton. Some of the causes includes the lack of supermarkets within the city, insufficient agricultural growth, high rate of poverty, and many other factors. In order to resolve these issues we shall target three areas in particular to ensure that change occurs. These areas consist of social injustices within the community, the economy, and current politics. For instance, it is proven that people living in poverty are more than likely to be food insecure. While politically Brockton officials are deciding which business are more economically beneficial within the city. Meaning, supermarkets are often located in wealthier communities leaving low-income neighborhoods with close to no access to fresh produce.
